Arnold Schwarzenegger the actor is famous for saying “I’ll be back” in one of his movies. For Schwarzenegger the governor of California, “Hasta la vista, Baby” would be more apropos.
The latest Field Poll shows Republican Schwarzenegger on the wrong side of 57 percent of registered voters overall. Sixty-one percent of independents say they wouldn’t vote for him again.
As recently as last fall, the former bodybuilder and Hollywood superstar could do no wrong. He was the fair-haired boy of Republicans everywhere and a featured speaker at the GOP convention. That, despite the fact that several of his views are at odds with those of the social conservatives and religious fundamentalists who form the rigid core of President George W. Bush’s political base.
However, according to a news story, his current difficulties arise from squabbling with Democratic legislators and some ballot measures most California voters take a dim view of.
Looks as though the same electorate that rushed to dump Gray Davis for Schwarzenegger may end up terminating the terminator next chance they get.

That’s what elections are for. Californians don’t want anyone messing with their welfare state. Heaven forbid anyone would try to install some fical discipline.
rightsaidfred must not be from California.
You’ve got illegal immigrants flooding in,
which is okay with W because California
taxpayers have to provide schools, health
care, jails and so on. You’ve got millions
of people getting older and needing more
medical care. W cheaps out on the veterans
and Arnold wants to cut registered nurses
from the hospitals and clinics. That isn’t
fiscal responsibility. It is stupid. It’s
how somebody who can afford all the best
medical care ignores what other people
need.
I’ve spent some time in the Golden State, and my wife is from there.
You are not going to have perfection in how the vast ocean of money in California is spent. But a vast ocean it is.
So how do you close/protect the boarder and stop the flood, when a
large voter population is against it, and besides, they want the
other 2/3s of their famliy to join them and help spend the welfare dollars…
