What’s as big as a golf ball, heavy as a can of soup and so far, at least, something of a mystery?
It’s the lump of metal that punched through the roof of a Freehold, N.J., home, damaged floor tiles and came to rest in a wall, that’s what.
The object was heavier than a usual metal object of its size, said (police Lt. Robert) Brightman, who added that no radioactivity was detected.
The story (with photos) says the family doesn’t want media exposure and that police hope to have confirmation from scientific analysis about what the object is within 72 hours.
Meanwhile, out Colorado and Wyoming way, residents were treated to the sight of a known object falling from the heavens. This one, a Russian space-rocket’s booster module, lit up the sky as its flaming remnants hurtled toward Earth.
North American Air Defense Command people were out looking for any debris from the space junk today, but said there had been no reports of damage to anything or anyone.
While these incidents might just be coincidental, Oh!pinion suggests you keep them in mind, especially when venturing outdoors. At the least, protective headgear might be in order.
Remember, you’ve been warned.
