Few media hacks better epitomize what the 27 percenters of Bush’s base, Karl Rove’s most Pavlovian subjects and, now, John McCain’s most certain voters want to see than Sean Hannity.
When and how this professional loudmouth got to be an expert on the economy is a mystery. But then, Fox News has always valued arrogance and a bullying approach over valid academic or professional qualifications.
Why bother with manners, civility, even acting like a well-adjusted adult, when you can come on like an immature, hotheaded bully and know-it-all, and give your audience vicarious pleasure?
So, the guest utters disagreeable facts and opinions. He’s an enemy! Beat up on him, for the entertainment of all the resentful, spiteful, ill-informed drones so lacking in taste and standards that they watch Fox.
In a better America, Hannity would be lucky to get a job as a bouncer for a strip club with a $3 cover charge. And Fox News would have lower ratings than The Jewelry Channel.

Ah, Hannity’s America. See opinion like his makes me very optimistic for the Democrats in 2008.
MSNBC has come under the gun about being too pro Obama and negative towards McCain.
Now this video show’s just how Hannity treat Mr. Kuttner when he is not with the conservative views and things are fine and no one complains.
>>>>Why bother with manners, civility, even acting like a well-adjusted adult, when you can come on like an immature, hotheaded bully and know-it-all, and give your audience vicarious pleasure?
You must be talking about Keith Olbermann.
Kuttner made a crass political statement with this book and then went on a loudmouth talk show. I don’t think he was treated that badly.
I don’t care personally about Hannity/Limbaugh etc. They’re assholes, but all they’re doing is preaching to the choir.
When their fans are listening to them, at least they’re off the street, and they aren’t pulling the wings off of flies or whatever other favorite hobbies they have.
Andy, I hope people who bought into Hannity’s garbage and Fox’s slant have finally come to realize what that has brought them in the way of misleadership, overly costly, inept and corrupt government, and subversion of our Constitution and laws.
RSF, I wonder if you even watch Olbermann. I have for years, and I have never ever seen him treat any guest, no matter the guest’s political leanings, with anything but courtesy and respect.
Olbermann is a broadcasting professional in the best sense. Hannity is a playground bully with a microphone. He needs remedial upbringing.
Tom, you’ve got a good, healthy attitude about the hatchetmouths of the right. But where’s the outrage? ‘Tis the season, heh.
>>>>Olbermann is a broadcasting professional in the best sense.
This is a bit of a stretch. I don’t watch KO that much, but he seems more interested in pushing his political views than nurturing professionalism.
